The tragedy that unfolded in Uttarakhand's Joshimath found echoes in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, where cracks started appearing in residences there and landslides were reported from the area.
Cracks that started appearing in the house in December last year have now started getting bigger, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Doda Athar Amin Zargar said.
"Cracks were reported in a house in Doda district in December. Till yesterday, cracks appeared in six buildings. Now these cracks have started increasing and the area is seen to be coming down with several structures in the area developing cracks," Zargar said.
A preliminary assessment was carried out last night and geologists also visited the area at night and in the morning, he said.
